Ashira Fischer-Wachspress is an actor and theatre-maker hailing from Rochester, NY who has always found home traversing the cultural installation of storytelling. An alumna of the Rochester School of the Arts and The London Academy of Music and Dramatic art, you’re likely to find her dissecting classical texts or acting like a clown toward her loved ones.  Ashira believes artists have a present responsibility to be warriors against apathy; to investigate the unconscious alleyways of the human mind in order to illuminate the rich connection between all sentient beings. She also believes in the unparalleled supremacy of Ghirardelli box brownies. Graduating from Fordham University with an Acting and Anthropology double major, she seeks to understand culture as a political entity and discursive practice, asking how we can hold its authors accountable and make room for new ones. Ashira is drawn to collaborative projects that burst the binary and encourage audiences to greet the ensuing butterflies in their stomach as benevolent creatures that will ascend them to new places. When she’s not performing, catch her gallivanting across New York singing jazz, catching up on foreign affairs, practicing her Derry Girls accent for anyone who will listen, and searching for the best empanadas in the city.
